About

One person, doing one thing properly.

Farran Reputation exists because good local businesses keep losing work to firms that are no better than them, simply because they are easier to find and easier to check.

Why this exists

Eighteen years watching the same thing happen.

I have spent eighteen years in estate agency across Bournemouth, Poole, Dorchester and Weymouth. Long enough to watch the whole business of winning work move online, and to see who adapted and who quietly lost out.

What struck me was how rarely it came down to quality. The firms losing instructions were not doing worse work. They were losing to whoever came up first, looked established, and had recent reviews with sensible replies underneath them. The same pattern shows up everywhere once you notice it. Someone asks a local group for a plumber or an oven cleaner, three names get typed, and every other business in that town might as well not exist that day.

Most owners know this. They also have a job to do. Nobody running a small business at full tilt has time to chase reviews, write careful replies to a one star, or work out why their listing is not showing up in the next village along.

So that is the whole service. I take it off your hands, do it properly and consistently, and show you what changed each month.

How I work

Four things I will not compromise on.

You deal with me

There is no account manager, no junior, and no call centre. The person who writes your review responses is the person whose name is on the door. If this ever grows past what one person can do properly, that is a problem to solve carefully, not by hiring quickly.

No fake anything

No invented reviews, no incentives, no hiding genuine criticism, and nothing automated to the point where a customer receives a reply no human has read. Every customer is asked the same way and anyone may say what they like.

No promises I cannot keep

Google controls its own rankings and decides which reported reviews come down. Anyone guaranteeing a position or a removal is guessing. What I promise is the work itself, done on time and reported honestly, whether the month went well or badly.

Easy to leave

No contract past ninety days. Long enough to show whether this works, short enough that you are never stuck paying for something that is not earning its keep. If it is not working I would rather you left and told people I was straight with you.

The mark

British silver has carried an assay mark for over seven hundred years. A small stamp struck into the metal, telling a stranger that this has been tested and it is what it claims to be. It is the oldest reputation system in the country, and it worked because it was independent and it was honest. That is where the Farran mark comes from, and it is a fair summary of the job: making the quality that is already there visible to someone who has never met you.

Where this goes

Google first. Reputation more broadly, in time.

Google Business Profile and review management is where most businesses need help first, and where the fastest visible difference is made. It is not the whole of reputation though. Search results that do not reflect who you are now, a bad piece of press, a crisis that needs handling calmly on the day it breaks: these are the same discipline applied further along.

As clients need those things, the service grows with them. Worth saying plainly that the review work comes first because it earns its place, not as a way in to selling something bigger.

Where the work happens

Based in Dorset, covering Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne, Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland and Bridport. Delivery is remote, with a video call whenever it helps, so work elsewhere is taken on where the fit is right.
